This is a library of perfboard and single-sided PCB effect layouts for guitar and bass. I'm not an electrical engineer by any stretch of the imagination, just a DIY'er who likes drawing layouts. It is meant for the hobbyist (so commercial use of any of these layout is not allowed without permission) and as a way to give back to the online DIY community.

1590A Tone Bender Mk.II

Here's the mighty SolaSound Tone Bender Mk.II shrunk down to fit in a 1590a. I laid it out for NPN transistor, as I really wouldn't want to try and squeeze a charge pump in a 1590a along side the effect board. Like the larger layout I posted last year, you could build the Marshall SupaFuzz with this layout as well. See that post for info on the value changes.

Update 3/22/15: I was trying to build this one to verify it and realized I'd forgotten the feedback resistor that goes from the base of Q2 to the emitter of Q3. The layout above is updated and should be fine now.

  1. About to make this one.
I can use npn SILICON transistors? If I can, Which ones? also, did the one you did work? Hoe it sounds? any recommendations?
also, congratulations for this amazing site! Everything looks so good that I want to make every pedal in this site! Sorry if my questions are stupid but I don't knoe a lot of electronic as I want and my english is not the best. Thanks so much!

    1. No worries, man. You can use silicon transistors, but this circuit can be really temperamental. I would definitely recommend using sockets and using low gain transistors like PN2369. Good luck!

  2. HI.

Are you sure that the 1N4001 is installed in the good sens on the layout?
Because the positive side is located on the side with white band on the diode . And see that on the layout it is inverted...

second question. Can i use OC81D PNP transistor with this layout ?

    Thank you.

  3. I build this but it's not working. Only huming and there's no fuzz and gaing. Is there something problem with the schematic?
