This is a library of perfboard and single-sided PCB effect layouts for guitar and bass. I'm not an electrical engineer by any stretch of the imagination, just a DIY'er who likes drawing layouts. It is meant for the hobbyist (so commercial use of any of these layout is not allowed without permission) and as a way to give back to the online DIY community.

Skreddy Fuzz Driver

Happy Fuzz Friday, everyone. Here's a modded Fuzz Face from Skreddy Pedals. Early versions are all germanium and later versions are a hybrid germanium/silicon setup. Since it's so similar to a Fuzz Face, there's a lot of room for experimentation. Here's the schematic for reference.

Skreddy Top Fuel

For Fuzz Friday, here's another fantastic Big Muff variation from Skreddy–the Top Fuel. It replaces the input stage with a MOSFET-based stage, and uses an interesting diode array for the 2 clipping stages. There's also a fabricated version of this layout in the store here.

MojoHand FX Iron Bell/Skreddy P19

For Fuzz Friday, here's another Big Muff based circuit to add to the collection. The Iron Bell is a variation of the Skreddy P19, the schematic of which was graciously posted by Marc from Skreddy a few years back. It's not based on any one classic Muff, but is Marc's unique blend of custom values, and features a boosted mids tone stack, with a switch to increase the mids. Shortly thereafter, the Iron Bell came out with a few mods, the biggest of which is the replacement of the Mids switch with a potentiometer and a few value changes. The layout below reflects the MojoHand iteration of the circuit, but the P19 can be built on the same board (see below for component changes). It's laid out for board mounted pots and should fit in a 1590B.

To make the Skreddy P19, made the following changes:
  • Replace the Colour pot with an SPST on/off switch
  • Change Q2-4 to BC550
  • Change the following components indicated on the layout:
    * 200Ω
    ** 10k
    • 47nF
    •• 2.7k
    ‡ 6.8nF

Skreddy Pedals Lunar Module

The Lunar Module was designed to get that Gilmore fuzz tone from Dark Side of the Moon.  It's an aggressive silicon fuzz with a wide range of tones. Got a request for this with the Pregain control as a trim pot. As the original 3-knob Lunar Module had the Pregain and Brite controls as trimmers, making a board for both is fairly easy. Transistors are BC109Cs, but BC550Cs would also work. You might want to use linear pots for the Body and Fuzz controls as some builders have had better results with those than the stock tapers.

Skreddy Mayonaise MkIII

One of the higher regarded Big Muff derivatives out there, the Mk III is Skreddy's latest version of their Mayonaise BMP. On the board is a dip switch which allows you to switch in or out 2 extra capacitors to the tone section. You could wire these as external SPST switches (you'll need 2 of them) if you like. I used my Triangle Big Muff layout as a starting point, but there are several changes so the two aren't interchangeable. But like the Triangle layout, this one is designed for solder-side mounted right angle pots and should fit just fine in a 1590B.
