Are you sure that the 1N4001 is installed in...HI. <br /><br />Are you sure that the 1N4001 is installed in the good sens on the layout?<br />Because the positive side is located on the side with white band on the diode . And see that on the layout it is inverted... <br /><br />second question. You can use silicon transistors, ...No worries, man. You can use silicon transistors, but this circuit can be really temperamental. I would definitely recommend using sockets and using low gain transistors like PN2369.
