This is a library of perfboard and single-sided PCB effect layouts for guitar and bass. I'm not an electrical engineer by any stretch of the imagination, just a DIY'er who likes drawing layouts. It is meant for the hobbyist (so commercial use of any of these layout is not allowed without permission) and as a way to give back to the online DIY community.

Roger Mayer Axis Fuzz

For Fuzz Friday here's the Roger Mayer Axis Fuzz redone with board mounted pots. Schematic for reference. Didn't make a drill template for this one, but the pots are 1.2" apart and should be an east fit in a 1590B.

Roger Mayer Spitfire

For Fuzz Friday here's Roger Mayer's Spitfire. It's pretty similar to the Mongoose, but with a different transistor/IC pair and a few value changes. Apparently it sounds really good on chords and doesn't get too thick. Here's the schematic for reference.

Roger Mayer Voodoo-Bass

Got a request for this one. It's the bass version of the Voodoo distortion. It's a very popular bass effect, especially in Japan apparently, but also sounds great with guitar too. A transistor stage at the input pushes a Rat-like LM308 distortion section, followed by a Big Muff-style tone stack and a simple output buffer. Here's the schematic.

Roger Mayer Axis Fuzz

For #FuzzFriday here's Roger Mayer's Axis Fuzz, and it's the 100th fuzz effect on the blog. Maybe I should branch out more... It was designed by Roger in the late 60s for Jimi Hendrix, and is named after the title track of "Axis Bold as Love." It uses a PNP silicon transistor for Q1 and NPN silicon for Q2. So while it will give you some Hendrix-style tones, it isn't quite a Fuzz Face. The schematic can be found here.

Roger Mayer Octavia

Roger Mayer is one of the most influential effects makers of all time. Responsible for many great players fuzz tones, he's probably most famous for tweaking (or just rebuilding) Jimi Hendrix's Fuzz Faces. He also has his own line of pedals and this is his take on the classic Octavia (octave up) effect. This one doesn't use a transformer like the Tycobrahe Octavia, so it's a little easier to build (at least you don't have to order a transformer...). This layout follows Roger's original 2-knob Octavia,  housed in a spaceship looking enclosure.
