This is a library of perfboard and single-sided PCB effect layouts for guitar and bass. I'm not an electrical engineer by any stretch of the imagination, just a DIY'er who likes drawing layouts. It is meant for the hobbyist (so commercial use of any of these layout is not allowed without permission) and as a way to give back to the online DIY community.

AstroTone Fuzz/Sam Ash Fuzzz Boxx
Here's a quick one. Fairly simple silicon fuzz from the 60s. AstroTone marketed these under their own name, as well as making them for Sam Ash. I laid this one out so the board mounted pots are in a triangular layout. The Attack and Volume controls are mounted on the component side, while the Tone control is mounted on the solder side like this:

no biggy, but a photo credit would be sweet, thanks. nice work by the way.
ReplyDeletethanks ;)
ReplyDeleteIs it verified? Mine build fried the volume knob.
ReplyDeleteHasn't been verified yes. Did you try replacing the volume pot?
DeleteYeah! It fried again. lol. so hasn't been?
DeleteI think there is a reissue schematic of this pedal using DS66 and 2n3565 transistor and the tone is 100k. I got the schematic from fuzzcentral. By the way thanks for the layout:)
ReplyDeleteHi there!
ReplyDeleteWhere is located the transfer pdf?
I couldn't find it
It's in the Misc folder. (You're not crazy btw, there wasn't one until like 2 min ago haha)
DeleteThanks David...!
DeleteI know my Chrome searcher didn't fail hahaha
Verified.
ReplyDeleteSounds good and cleans up well if you pick softly or roll back your guitar's volume.
I built it with the AnalogMan mods and it sounds great.
ReplyDeleteReplace:
- 1M resistors at collectors with 1M2
- 1K8 at tone control with 470R
- 47n caps next to Attack/Vol with 470n
I had to add an empty row between pots and components to make the output cap fit under the volume pot.

ReplyDeleteHey! What does the 1M resistor between attack lugs 1 and 3 do? I have been looking at a few layouts and some have one between 2 lugs of attack and some don't. Just curious to learn something. Thanks for all the cool layouts!
