This is a library of perfboard and single-sided PCB effect layouts for guitar and bass. I'm not an electrical engineer by any stretch of the imagination, just a DIY'er who likes drawing layouts. Emanating Fist Black Acid

The Black Acid is the big brother of the one knob Black Dust fuzz from Emanating Fist. It's a silicon Fuzz Face variant with a Drive control that pans between 2 input capacitors. It's laid out for board mounted pots and will fit nicely in a 1590B.

  1. Hi guys. I really hate asking this, but I have searched High & low, near and far, gone through hundreds of search pages at FSB & DIYSB and not been able to locate a schematic. I don't expect anyone to do my work for me, so maybe a hint of where I might find it?

    Thanks,
    Will

    1. If it's anywhere it'd be on the D*A*M forum. I just traced the Tagboard FX vero layout of it. It's just a tweaked Fuzz Face.

  2. you can verify this one. i built it and it sounds great.

  3. Good day, I came across your site and I am delighted with your work, thank you. I tried to create this pedal without changing the board, the only thing I changed was replacing the trimpod with a potentiometer, I used BC107 transistors, since BC109 are not available in my countries and as a result there is almost no amplification (almost pure sound), then as Q1 I used MP38 hfe 140, it gave a slightly better result, but still far from fuzz even at maximum settings. As someone has experience with this, please help with advice on how to make it work. Thanks.

    1. Try something with higher hfe, like a BC549C or 2N5088. BC109C usually has an hfe between 400 and 800.

    2. Checked. Works with almost any hfe (tested transistors from hfe 140 to hfe 700) different combinations, but it's a matter of taste, I settled on 2n5088 (650-700). The problem was not in the transistors, but in the board (my mistake). Thank you for responding to my request for help.

    3. hey there! where was your problem exactly? i'm having exactly the same issue with my own build, sound, but almost no amplification, and saw other people also use other transistors with no problem(like you i also thought that initially) and came across your comment.. would love to hear what issue you had that caused this because it may lead to the solution easier for my own build!

    4. Hi, I'm sorry I read your comment late. The problem was in the printed circuit board, when redrawing the printed circuit board, he made a mistake, namely, he missed the path from the 560 Ohm resistor to the 47 Mf capacitor.

    5. Compare the top right image and the bottom left image (for the breadboard), the track is missing.
