This is a library of perfboard and single-sided PCB effect layouts for guitar and bass. I'm not an electrical engineer by any stretch of the imagination, just a DIY'er who likes drawing layouts. It is meant for the hobbyist (so commercial use of any of these layout is not allowed without permission) and as a way to give back to the online DIY community.

Way Huge Tone Leper

This is a rare one from the early 90s from Way Huge and is based on the Craig Anderton Frequency Booster. Stock it gives a mid range boost (800Hz), but that frequency can be altered by swapping the 2, 22nF caps:

220nF - 90Hz (lows)
100nF - 200Hz (low mids)
10nF - 2kHz (mids)
4.7nF - 4kHz (upper mids)

Bass Filter Pedal

Here's a cool little bass filter pedal designed by bleepboxes. Really low parts count should make for a pretty quick build. Original info here. Might be a good idea to put the 4.7n cap on a switch with a 2.2n for more tonal variation.

OKKO Dominator

Here's a big one, and just so happens to be the 700th layout on the blog 😎—the OKKO Dominator distortion. It's a couple of JFETs pushing an opamp with active EQ, with a charge pump. Originals use a switch to select the range of the mids control, but it's easy to swap out for a pot. Schematic can be found here on FSB for reference. Easy fit in a 1590BB.

Spaceman Titan II

Happy Fuzz Friday! Here's the Spaceman Effects Titan II fuzz, traced by Dino (Digi2T). I simplified the polarity protection, removing the BS250 in place of a simpler 1N5817 diode. Transistors need to be pretty low gain—under 200 hFE. Should be an easy fit for a 1590B.

Discrete Llama

Happy New Year, everyone!

Some audiophiles have really gotten into preamps that use discrete opamp—basically using and bunch of individual transistors that make up the internal circuit in an IC. This trend has also made it's way into the guitar world as well. One of the simpler circuits I've seen you can do this with is the Way Huge Red Llama. Inside the CD4049 in your typical Red Llama is essentially a bunch of MOSFETs. John from Electronic Audio Experiments and Alec from Mask Audio Electronics worked on this and Alec sent me the schematic to share with all of you.

Cornish P2 (probably)

For Fuzz Friday here's what most people think is the Cornish P2. It's a slightly modified Ram's Head Big Muff with flat mids and the Cornish buffer up front. If you want to use the Cornish bypass like the original check out the Cornish G2 layout for the bypass board.
