This is a library of perfboard and single-sided PCB effect layouts for guitar and bass. I'm not an electrical engineer by any stretch of the imagination, just a DIY'er who likes drawing layouts. It is meant for the hobbyist (so commercial use of any of these layout is not allowed without permission) and as a way to give back to the online DIY community.

Budda Chakra Compressor
Here's an optical compressor I came across on FSB and hadn't seen a layout of it before. There's some question as to whether the schematic is accurate on FSB, so build with care. The original uses a rectifier array component, but I've broken that down into 4 discrete diodes (1N4148, 1N4001, etc.) since I figure more people will have those on hand than the rectifier component. Should fit nicely in a 1590B. Schematic and more info on FSB.

ReplyDeleteAny replacement for the lf353p?
I'd imagine most dual opamps should sub in just fine.
Deletecan i use 4558 ?
DeleteBoa tarde. Quais são os diodos?
ReplyDeleteGrato.
Hello friend, you are not the only Brazilian to visit the page, so even to speed up the response process, speak in English, not Portuguese! The diodes are 1n4148!
Deletewhich one LDR & LED type i can use for this PCB?
ReplyDeleteLF353P CAN it be replacet with lf353n?
ReplyDeleteProbably. Usually the letters after the numbers are manufacturer specific.
DeleteCollected. Does not work. The LED does not light up. Something is wrong in the original scheme.
ReplyDeleteMe too, who is completed right ?
DeleteAnyone verified it?

ReplyDeleteI did it verified
ReplyDeleteBut i really dont know what compression is
And i dont know if attack knob is doing anything or not
I feel itslike a boost pedal. I just dont know how compression pedal sounds like haha
Does the LED light up on your build?
DeleteLed inside that ldrand led thing?
DeleteI cannot see it.. but compressor does work
Im not syre abou attack but otherworks
I made 2 pedals
ReplyDeleteU can mark it as verified
is the order of the diodes correct? mine's working, but I can't hear it 'compressing' and it has a slight overdrive when the gain is about 75%. Does the LED on your build light up? TIA!
DeleteIs there any update on this one? Can anybody get the LED lighting up?
ReplyDeleteNo, led no work
DeleteYes, see my other comment, below.
DeleteWORKING, WITH MODS: Per the FSB link for this layout schematic, a comment showed up a few months after this layout was created. You DO need to add a connection between the junction at the 10k/330ohm/Attack1trace to pin 1 of the buffer op amp all the way across the board. I just ran a wire over top of the circuit but you could just as easily run it underneath on the solder side. if you do offboard wiring for the pots, you can just Gain 3 to Attack 1. Same connection, different points but may look cleaner. Works great, sounds good, very quiet noise floor unless you crank everything to max. Sounds good on bass, too, which is what I built this for.
