Dwarfcraft Great Destroyer
Here's a fun sputtery beast for Fuzz Friday. Like many of Dwarfcraft offerings, this ones got a lot of character and goes from fuzz to experimental with just a few knob turns. I've laid it out so you can fit it in a 1590B long-ways (much like a zVex pedal). Here's the schematic for reference.

Built this one up and it worked great via toner transfer. Tested it at different DC voltages and worked well down to 3 volts.
ReplyDeleteI haven't plugged a guitar into it yet but i liked the way it made my synth sound - check this one as verified.
Interesting self oscillation mod if you connect a pot between pin 2 of the drive knob and pin 2 of the "tone" (lol) knob - makes some good noise.
Does the starve knob work right? My does nothing.. any ideas? Thanks in advance.
ReplyDeletecan I use the CD4049UBE or just the 4049?
ReplyDeleteThe UBE is the unbuffered version and this one needs the buffered 4049.
DeleteFixed one of these for a friend a few years ago but he had a gig the same day so i never got to play around with it. Couple questions.... Just wondering the 100uf filter cap, was that something in a new schematic or did you add that? if so just curious. Second, maybe this is a new version but i remember the original having 1uf caps (electro) in place of the 100nfs Probably negative side going facing the in and out pads. Just food for thought. just found a 4049 (unbuffered)in my bin but ill try it out for grins with 1ufs and and report back.
ReplyDeleteJust going off the schematic that's online. The power filter cap is just good building practice IMHO. I add it and polarity protection to everything. Let me know how it goes!
DeleteWOrks Cd 4049 - Hex Inverter Buffer ?
ReplyDeleteThanks
I tested CD4049UBE and it worked very well, can put the UBE that also works
ReplyDeletethanks!
DeleteHi I'm late to the party but is this the 9v pedal version or the 12v eurorack version fo the great destroyer? I'm currently trying a 9v version I had found on another site but really wanted an eurorack module to add to my system
ReplyDeleteThis is the 9v version. My guess would be the Eurorack version is the same, just with a beefier power section to convert the +/-12v Eurorack supply down to at least +/-9v. The chip's max voltage supply is 18v, and the full swing of +/-12v would be 24.
DeleteTested with CD4049UBE.
