Devi Ever Hounds Tooth

Haven't had a Fuzz Friday since March, so sneak one more into 2021 with the Devi Ever Hounds Tooth. It's essentially Devi's 05 clean boost into a Dark Boost with extra PNP transistors stacked onto the NPNs.

  1. Here's my report: It works. I swapped transistors a lot. the mpsa18 and 2907s I had were farty and sputtery. Mpsa13s were too much, 5089 and 5087 closer. 2n5089 and bc558 worked the best ( closest to the demo) from the transistor I have around, with a strat. Also August 20th was a fuzz friday.

    1. Very Helpful. Thanks. I dont have any 2907's but a whole box of 558's. This is next on the list.

    2. I had the same exact issue. I actually found that removing Q2 made it sound a little closer to the demo vid but still not the same. Any idea what voltages should be on this one?

    1. Merry Christmas! My favorite fuzz is probably a Tone Bender Mk III. But it's tough to pick just one...

  4. There's an old pdf harvested from Devi's former DIY forum that states: 90=Punch Love(05)>Dark Boost, with 2n2907A's added into the extra pcb slots. The gain pot belongs between the Punch Love and Dark Boost circuits, not in the front end like many other Devi circuits. The Hounds Tooth is identical to the 90 with the first 2N2907 removed (there are only 3 transistors in the Hounds Tooth).

  5. Correction: Hounds Tooth removes the 2N2907 from the Dark Boost section.
