Here's another Plexi-in-a-box overdrive, this time from the great Robert Keeley. It's a cascaded opamp design running on a bipolar +/-9v supply. The Power Toggle as it's known on the original selects between red LEDs or BAT46s for asymmetrical clipping.

ReplyDeleteAlthought I had to do a small mod to make it work.
I don't know if the problem were my caps or the LT1054 I used but it didn't gave me the -9V until I did this:

Sounds great!
Thanks for another awesome layout.
That's weird. It didn't work with the 100uF cap from -9 to ground in the original location but did in your modified spot?
DeleteYep, as I said I don't know if there was a problem with the cheap chinese cap I used, but I tried 3 different LT1054 and kept getting weird negative voltages like +8.2 and -1.2.
DeleteI checked for bridges or cold solder spot and found none.
Then I pulled the cap off and tried a new one on that other spot and it worked.
I was too lazy to try and put it on the original place.
Weird. Though if you're using a 1054 you don't need to connect pins 1 and 8. Wonder if that has anything to do with it.
DeleteWhat can I use to replace de bats? I can't get them in my country
ReplyDeleteUsual 4148 can be used although they might sound a tiny bit different
Deletewhat is that 8.2v diode? equivalent??
ReplyDeletethank you,great layout!
It's a 8.2v zener diode. Several options out there, just google for a specific part number.
DeleteHey Guys, can somebody help me out?
ReplyDeleteI put it together and it makes an awful whistling.
Converter is 7660s cpaz. Any ideas?
Probably your 7660 is not really the "S" version, but a fake one. You can substitute it with LT1054.
DeleteThanks man!! It was a fake one, got the original. Thanxxx
DeleteAnyone?
ReplyDeleteHi! I noticed that you missed the 22k resistor in parallel with the 39nF capacitor.
ReplyDeleteIt can be placed between the TONE (1) and LEVEL (3) pins.
Although, everything works without it :)
But on the scheme it is.
BAT46, what I can replace it with?
ReplyDeleteta faltando o resistor de 22k com 39nf
