This is a library of perfboard and single-sided PCB effect layouts for guitar and bass. I'm not an electrical engineer by any stretch of the imagination, just a DIY'er who likes drawing layouts. It is meant for the hobbyist (so commercial use of any of these layout is not allowed without permission) and as a way to give back to the online DIY community.

Fuzzrocious Ram the Manparts
Happy Fuzz Friday! Here's the now discontinued Ram the Manparts from Fuzzrocious. It's a 386-based fuzz/distortion with a voltage starve control, gain toggle, and volume control and sounds pretty killer on guitar and bass. Should be a quick build and a nice fit in a 1590B.

It would be cool to add this to the front end of the Mid-do Electronics Clari(not). I wonder how the tracking control would respond to the voltage starve control?
ReplyDeletewhich one of LM386?
ReplyDeleteYou may usr socket and try different revisions. LM386N works perfectly
DeleteAny LM386 can work i think
DeleteDidnt work to me :(
ReplyDeleteCant find the layout from your transfer image library
ReplyDeleteMisc. folder
DeleteGot it... Thanks
DeleteVerified, works very well for such a simple circuit. Thanks! Voltage starve works but it's true most of the good action is at the last 20% of the pot.
ReplyDeleteSide note: I used B pots and they work fine as well. at least for me
DeleteThank you for sharing it.. I think you mentioned it already in 'General Layout Notes' but to be sure I wanted to ask: Do the small lines next to 'uF' indicate the positive or negative side of the capacitor. Thanks in advance
ReplyDeleteThat's the negative side. If it's hard to read on the PCB side, the perf side shows the negative side with the lighter grey shading. Or in the PCB the positive side is indicated by the square pad.
DeleteOh thank you so much!!!

ReplyDeleteWhat switches are used in Gain port? SPST or SPDT?.Thank you
ReplyDeleteSPST
Deleteon-on ? answer me please
DeleteThere's only one kind of SPST and it's on/off as it's the simplest type of switch.

happened the same as 12uler qieth the starve pot, it only works at the %80 percent of the pot. will try today the B pot, maybe b5k.
ReplyDeleteverified. Agreed on the sag. This circuit seems to get ass dirst as the acapulco gold, yet cleans up a lot nicer. Thank you so much for this site - keeping me sane during covid
