This is a library of perfboard and single-sided PCB effect layouts for guitar and bass. I'm not an electrical engineer by any stretch of the imagination, just a DIY'er who likes drawing layouts. It is meant for the hobbyist (so commercial use of any of these layout is not allowed without permission) and as a way to give back to the online DIY community.

Earthbound Audio Supercollider

Happy Pi day! The day calls for at least some version of the Big Muff Pi, so here's the Supercollider. I think Cody's asked me to lay this one out like 3 times and I finally remembered to do it. haha This one follows the basic Green Russian Muff with a few component value changes. There's also been a Mids control added to the tone stack and a Mass control that pans between 2 different capacitors at the input. For the Mass control, originals use a B100k pot and a 10n capacitor off lug 2, but Kit Rae suggested using a B150k pot and a 4.7nF capacitor instead (and that's reflected in the layout). His schematic can be found here. There are versions of this pedal out there that include a switch for silicon or LED diodes. I'm assuming that much like the Pharaoh, this option is for the diodes in the 2nd gain stage (1N4001s in the layout below). If you want the clipping switch it won't be hard to wire that off board.

  1. I've built this one and sounds great!
    Congrats for the awesome job!
Just one thing: it seems like the Mids control is working backwards. Looking at the schematic posted in the link above, i noticed that this layout matches. So, there might be some mistake at the schem, not at the pcb.
Maybe lug1 should connect 10k; lug2 goes to ground.
    Sorry for my english :/

  2. Do you know know about the related Beast pedal? It's this same circuit, but with 2 oscillation points. I haven't been able to find but what they are, but they would be easy mods:

  3. Verified, working perfectly and sounding massive.

I added the clipping switch. I had a three way switch lying around so I've included a "no clipping" in second stage setting like the pharaoh.

    Works like a dream.

Thanks for another neatly laid out pcb!

    1. First timer here in need of some advice.. did you get the PCB printed up on a 2 layer board or a 4 layer board? Is this a single layer design?

    2. All the layouts are single sided, designed for toner transfer or photoresists etching. Check out the PCB Etching tab at the top of the page.

  4. this pcb isn't in the print out library. so how do i scale it to print? whats the size suppose to be?

  5. hello, newbie here.. built this and it sounds awesome.. i notice that the mid control is backward and the led clipping is much heavier in volume than the silicon diode clipping.. what should i do yo make it equal in volume? or any recommendation ..
