Did this one quite a while ago, but wanted to redo some of the old layouts with board mounted pots. The schematic online has the topology correct but the 100nF caps are 47nF from the gut shots I've seen, so that's reflected below. Might be good to socket and experiment with.

Greer Amps Black Mountian
Here's one of Greer's latest offerings. Seems like a simplified OCD circuit with some value changes and different clipping diodes. Schematic for reference. Easy fit in a 1590B.

Sarno Earth Drive
This one's gotten a fair amount of hype over the years. It's essentially a Timmy without the bass control and a few different values. The IC and clipping diodes haven't been confirmed, other than 2 silicon, 2 germanium. 1N4148 and 1N34A should get you pretty darn close. IC is just a dual op-amp so socket and audition your favorites. Schematic here for reference.

DigiTech Bad Monkey
With all the recent talk and hype of the DigiTech Bad Monkey lately, and the sky rocketing prices of them on Reverb, a layout seemed to be in order. I used to gig with one of these and loved the Low control on it. Helped it stand out compared to other TS-style ODs. So it's worth throwing together in my book if you can't wait for prices on original units to come back to reality. This one's laid out for a 125B with top mounted jacks but you can probably squeeze it in a 1590B if you feel so inclined. Schematic over on FSB.

J. Rockett Tim Pierce Overdrive
Thought this one was interesting so I gave it a go. It's a fairly typical Rockett overdrive (.45 Caliber, Animal, Blue Note, etc.) with a fairly typical MOSFET boost (AMZ Booster, EQD Black Eye, etc.). Fits in a 125B with dual footswitches. Schematic and discussion found here. Fabricated version available on the store.

Solid Gold FX Super Drive
Here's an interesting take on the classic DOD 250/MXR Distortion + circuit. It's pushed by a simple BJT boost and has an added presence control and tone switch. Schematic here. Easy to fit in a 1590B or 125B.

Rift Amplification EL34
Almost didn't draw this up since it's just another Electra variant, but they almost always sound good, so why not? This one claims to emulate the sound of EL34 tubes, which sounds like marketing gibberish to me since it's just a diode-less Electra. Originals are all hand wired, point to point, floating in the 1590BB enclosure. Super cool looking, but a major labor of love to produce, hence its hefty price tag. This will fit in a 1590B, but has 2 footswitches, so the drill template reflects a zVex-style of layout. Schematic and cool teardown vid on FSB here.

MI Audio Blues Boy Deluxe
Stumbled across the schematic for this one over on FSB and it seemed interesting enough. Should be able to squeeze it into a 1590B.

PedalPalFX PAL 800
By popular demand, here's the PAL 800, a well regarded Marshall-in-a-box circuit. Should fit nicely in a 125B. Schematic here. All the trimmers except the one just below the Volume control are for biasing the JFETs. Start at 4.5v on the drain of each JFET and adjust by ear from there. The other trimer is for smoothing out the output signal.

Greer Amps Southland
Turns out the Southland is pretty much the same circuit as the Lightspeed, but with some hard clipping diodes thrown in the middle (and a couple value tweaks). Figured I'd make a new layout with space for the diodes. This layout uses the same drill template as the Lightspeed.

Lounsberry Nigel
Here's a transistor based overdrive I came across on FSB. Demos sound interesting, so give it ago. Easy fit in a 1590B.

Greer Amps Tomahawk
Here's a popular drive box from Greer Amps. It's essentially a Distortion +/DOD 250 but with a modified gain control, LED clipping and a treble cut pot. Should be an easy fit in a 1590B.

Hudson Electronics Sidecar
Here's a really great sounding overdrive from Hudson Electronics. The Sidecar is loosely based on the Tube Screamer with a 2-band Baxendall EQ and some interesting soft clipping. It uses a PNP germanium as a diode along side an LED and a 1N4148 in an asymmetrical configuration. I've got a fabricated version available in the store as well if you prefer and the schematic is over there in the build doc.

Way Huge Red Llama 25th Anniversary Reissue
Happy New Year, everybody! This one recently got traced over on FSB. The 25th Anniversary edition of the Red Llama has an added hi cut tone control, but also has a few variations from the original circuit. The hi cut itself is just a basic cap/pot to ground tone control, the minimum gain resistor on the first stage has been reduced from 100k to 91k, and the 2nd stage feedback loop resistance has doubled up from 1M to 2M. Schematic and more info on FSB.

Dirt Master
Here's a little something I whipped up the other night on a whim. Actually built it on the fly before I even drew up a layout. I was trying to build something with some old mojo caps I found on my bench, and it initially started as a treble booster, but I ended up wanting more gain. Initially it was based on the EQD Arrows, but added an extra cap off the emitter (ala the Rangemaster) for more gain and snarl. I used a germanium transistor with an hFE of around 230. Worked well with a silicon transistor as well. Room for experimenting with the input and output caps. Should fit easily in a 1590B.
