Blackout Effectors Mantra Overdrive

Here's a great sounding overdrive from Blackout Effectors. It features a 2-band EQ and the standard drive and volume controls. The topology of the circuit is reminiscent of the classic Big Muff, (input amplifier, gain stage, gain stage, EQ, gan recovery stage) but the components are completely different. Here's the schematic for reference. Adjust the trimmers to around 6.2v, then fine tune by ear if necessary.

Blackout Effectors Fix'd Fuzz Deluxe

For #FuzzFriday, here's the Fix'd Fuzz from Blackout Effectors. Part Big Muff, part Bazz Fuss, part Fuzz Face, the Fix'd Fuzz uses the basic structure of the Big Muff, but replaces the 2 gain stages with a Bazz Fuss and a Fuzz Face-esque circuit. What makes it really interesting is that every stage of the circuit is switchable. This allows it to be anything from a boost to a full on fuzz machine of doom. The original version had the switching, but 2 of the controls as trimmers internally. The deluxe version, which is laid out below, has all control externally for maximum tweak-ability. Here's a schematic for reference.

Blackout Effectors Musket Fuzz

The Musket Fuzz is a variation of the classic Big Muff. Based on a Black Russian version, the Musket adds a modified LPB-1 booster (the "Pre" section) that pushes the standard BMP circuit. The "Focus" control allows you to pan between 2 different capacitors at the input of the first stage of the BMP. The Musket also adds a "Mids" control to the tone section, allowing you to dial in and be heard in the mix.

This layout allows you to use on-board, solder side mounted, right angle pots, though long-leg pots could be mounted on the component side as well.
