This is a library of perfboard and single-sided PCB effect layouts for guitar and bass. I'm not an electrical engineer by any stretch of the imagination, just a DIY'er who likes drawing layouts. It is meant for the hobbyist (so commercial use of any of these layout is not allowed without permission) and as a way to give back to the online DIY community.

Skreddy Pedals Lunar Module

The Lunar Module was designed to get that Gilmore fuzz tone from Dark Side of the Moon.  It's an aggressive silicon fuzz with a wide range of tones. Got a request for this with the Pregain control as a trim pot. As the original 3-knob Lunar Module had the Pregain and Brite controls as trimmers, making a board for both is fairly easy. Transistors are BC109Cs, but BC550Cs would also work. You might want to use linear pots for the Body and Fuzz controls as some builders have had better results with those than the stock tapers.

  2. I know these are not high quality photos, but it is the better py phone can do :)
    I've added a current limiting resistor, it's the 5% carbon film in the upper side of the perfboard.

    2. what is the value of the Current limiting resistor ?
      seem like you avoided a 100K resistor.

    3. It's a 3k3 5% carbon film resistor. I've a stock of these so I always use this value but I think anything from 2k2 to 4k7 would be OK, just more or less brighter. If you are confused by the led wiring, it's a Rgb common anode, so one wire from the CLR to the led's anode and 2 from led to the ground

  4. This is the same layout as the Screwdriver Deluxe and the Hybrid Fuzz Driver, right? I'd love to see you do alternate layouts showing those component values. The way I understand it, the Lunar Module used three silicon BC109 transistors. The Screwdriver used a BS170 MOSFET up front into a BC109 into an AC127 Germanium. Finally, the Hybrid Fuzz Driver uses a pair of Silicon BC109 transistors into an AC127 Germanium. I assume some of the other values changed as well. It would be cool to see the whole Skreddy Wars Trilogy. Heh...

    1. I'll have to do some research and dig up the Skreddy schems, but that sounds like a good idea for a project. And I will definitely be calling it the Skreddy Wars Trilogy hahaha!

    2. There are only a couple of differences between LM and SD, a added resistor somewhere I can't recall right now, but the layout is really very similar. But the resulting effect very different from each other :)
      Now, for Hybrid Fuzz Driver, I don't know if there's already a accurate tracing of it... :(

    3. Is there any progress int the Skreddy Wars Trilogy?
      I was thinking of a possible mod. First I would change the Q3 to a Germanium NPN with fairly high Hfe and low leakage. I would change the 2.7K resistor to a 4.7K. Lastly I would put a B10K pot in the place of the 10K res going to the collector of Q3. This would be the Gate or bias.
      Also the 15 nF output cap seems a little small to me.
