MOD The Verb Deluxe

Here's another MOD effect. It's a simple reverb using the Belton Digi-Log Mini Reverb Module (the BTDR-2H-L), which you can mount directly to the board. The DPDT switch referenced in the layout is the on/off stomp switch if anyone is confused by that. Here's the schematic and a sound sample for reference.

  1. Got this etched and populated tonight and it sounds great. The DPDT worked great and since its buffered it had tails. I used a short belton brick since I wanted the least amount of modulation that the Belton bricks seem to have. I also subbed Q1 & Q2 with J201's. I would say this is now verified.

Here is a pic of the board populated:

    1. Thanks Cody! Fantastic looking board btw. I'm working on this guy on perf as well and was planning on using J201s as well. Glad to hear those work.

  2. Hi! I built this pedal and works great. First i used MPF102 to replace Q1 and Q2 but it didn't work. Then I subbed Q1 & Q2 with J201's and works.

    Some questions:

    Are voltage ok?

    Q1 (j201): D- 5.85v S- 0.68v G- 0v
    Q2 (mpf102 o j201): D- 6.35v S- 5.10v G- 0.98v

If I use a bigger resistor to Q1 Drain, volumen goes down? If I use a smaller resistor, it goes up?

Thanks. Sorry for me english. (I'm from Argentina)

    Thanks again.

    1. I would think if it works, the voltages are fine. :) I didn't measure them on the one I built, so I don't really have anything to compare with.

I don't know about the volume level and adjusting that resistor. It biases Q1, so messing with it might make it not function properly. You can always socket and experiment.

  3. Hi, can I wiring this pedal in true bypass?

    1. I think you can just ignore the switching indicated on the layout and just wiring the in/out like you normally would for true-bypass. Refer to the schematic to double check. The link is in the description above.

  4. What is the number 654321? Are the pins of dpdt?

    1. Those are the pins of the Belton reverb brick you need to build this reverb.

  5. Q1 and Q2 don't need to be matched right?

  6. Just want to confirm this build, it's 100% working, used stock PF5102 and BTDR2H-Long(2,8ms). Very very nice warm reverb.

  7. Got it working with 2x J113 or J113 as Q1 + J112 as Q2. Tried two for J111 or J112 but they didn't work.
