This is a library of perfboard and single-sided PCB effect layouts for guitar and bass. I'm not an electrical engineer by any stretch of the imagination, just a DIY'er who likes drawing layouts. It is meant for the hobbyist (so commercial use of any of these layout is not allowed without permission) and as a way to give back to the online DIY community.

Paul Cochrane's Timmy
Often cloned without giving credit to where credit is due (cough*lovepedal*cough), the Timmy is one of the most sought after overdrives on the market today. And really, if you can afford one, just buy one from Paul C. He's a great guy. For those of you who can't, here's my layout.

Hi there,I'am not a noob guy in building guitar pedals, but it's a firs time I see component, named DIP 1,2.Can you please explain me what is this,I'm going to verify this one.
ReplyDeleteBest regards,Daniel
That's just a switch to engage D5 and/or D6. More info here:
Deletehttps://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DIP_switch
You could use a DPDT toggle instead. Wire the 2 pads for the DIP switch that connect to Drive 3 to lugs 2 and 4 (refer to the General Layout Notes page for lug numbering), and the pads that go to D5 and 6 to lugs 1 and 3. I think there are versions from Paul C. that are wired this way. Hope that helps!
Do you have one photo of this kind of DIP,12 ?
DeleteIs this it ?

Yes
DeleteI'm mid-build on this one and don't see the output. Is it volume 2 to out?
ReplyDeleteYes, Vol 2 to Out
DeleteThanks. I hope to verify this one in the next couple of days.

ReplyDeletegetting ready to test mine tonight, so far so good
got it!!! was a loose ground connection and now it sounds awesome. holy chit mane !
DeleteJRC4559 would be ok for this one?
ReplyDeleteYep. That's what's used in the original. I used a 4558 when I built this though. Worked fine.
DeleteHow could one wire a 3 way switch to perform the clipping tasks of the later versions? Thanks for so many great layouts btw!
ReplyDeleteThanks! Check out the diode switching in lvlark's vero layout.

The scheme of the Lovepedal OD11 is almost a copy of this pedal, know you if I can use the same board? Maybe I have to ask less and try more... jaja
ReplyDeleteExplore the site a bit more. There are actually 2 layouts for the Lovepedal version.
DeleteHi !
ReplyDeletesorry but can't find the layout in the data base … Could you please tell me where is the folder ?
It's in the Misc folder
DeleteTHX
DeleteI dont have a 510k resistor,would 470k sub ok?
ReplyDeleteYeah that should be fine
Deletecan i use this op Amp? = LM1458CN
ReplyDeleteYeah, pretty much any dual op amp will work.
Deletei bought a Pot says 50K,but i measured it in actual, value is only 37K,can i still use it?
ReplyDeletePots can have pretty high tolerances. It's probably fine.
DeleteHi Effects Layouts, i used LM1458CN Op Amp and the 37Kohm (actual measured Pot),and used your PCB layout.and tested sounds great transparent Overdrive,Thanks to Paul C. and to you Effects layout..this is VERIFIED!

ReplyDeleteAbout the d5 and d6 on the pad per hole layout..a connection is missing :)
ReplyDeleteBuilt this the gain pot is not working.and also the switch for the diode.i cant hear any difference(i used toggle dpdt switch and used only 4 poles) please advice 😢
ReplyDeleteStill waiting for advice after a year has passed 😅😅😅
DeletePost pics of your build, it helps a lot.Maybe is a bad solder joint somewhere
DeleteIs there a way to wire the dipswitch slots in a way that I don't need to use a dipswitch and the pedal stays in the equivalent of the middle position toggle of the version 3.
ReplyDeleteAnother question, If I want to reemplace the dipswitch with a 3 position toggle, how i have to wire ir in this board?
Excellent low gain drive pedal, just the right guitar frequenties!
ReplyDeleteOne problem i experienced was the Treble and Bass work way better with 50KC (anti-log) pots.
Nice layout work!
