This was a request by Guilherme. It's a FET adaption of the SLO 100 preamp originally done by OldMike and modded by Brymus. I've changed the resistors going from the power rail to the drains of the various FETs to trimmers. Here's the schematic I worked from and it has a list of the voltages from Brymus' build.
This is a library of perfboard and single-sided PCB effect layouts for guitar and bass. I'm not an electrical engineer by any stretch of the imagination, just a DIY'er who likes drawing layouts. It is meant for the hobbyist (so commercial use of any of these layout is not allowed without permission) and as a way to give back to the online DIY community.
definately one ill have to try,
ReplyDeletedo you think i can try to sub the 2n7000 with bs170 ?
Socket and try. Just mind the pinout. IIRC BS170s are oriented 180 degrees differently from the 2N7000.
DeleteThanks a bunch! I'll try to verify this next week
ReplyDeletebuilt it, drive pot does nothing, and i had to jump output and volume 2 to get the signal out, bias is as per schematic but there is high noise and hiss.
ReplyDeletetone stack works very good tho.
only thing i did different from layout is use 47k resistors in place of the 43k.
will try to get back to it later.
Do you resolve the drive pot problem? Mine doesn't work too...
DeleteThis may be too little too late, but the transfer is missing the Drive leg 1's connection to ground that's shown in the parts layout. I had the same issue, noticed the error, solder jumped drive leg 1 to ground, and then everything worked as it should.
Deletehi, presence 1/2 to SW1 in the schematic, no 2/3 like in the layout.i build it, tomorrow finish them, i tell you if its works!
ReplyDeletedont work for now, debuging time!
ReplyDeleteplease see the sample video by me, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kbHtPJKwBGQ
ReplyDeletesounds great!do you use this layout?
DeleteI used this layout and it works fine. The best amp emulator ever.
ReplyDeleteI should be able to substitute the 220uf filtering cap for a 100uf with no issues you think? their just so much smaller
ReplyDeleteYeah probably.
DeleteBuild and working good
ReplyDeletegreat! I'm about to build it... what exactly does the SPST switch? enable/disable Presence or change how Presence Pot works? thanks you!
DeleteI believe it enable/disables the Presence pot

ReplyDeleteAny way to mod this to add the SLO Crunch mode? I understand a daughter board would have to be used, but that would make a heck of a Deluxe/2-channel version.
ReplyDeleteJust finished building this one. Couple small issues:
ReplyDelete1: The reversed underside of the perf layout doesn't quite match (at least on the bottom couple rows. I didn't follow it more to see if the rest was out, I just reversed the topside image)
2: SW 1 should go to Presence 1/2, not 2/3 as indicated. And yes, as you stated, it enables/disables the presence pot.
3: I couldn't get Q2 or Q3 to bias correctly (using SMD J201 and through-hole 2N7000) resulting in a farty, mis-biased fuzz sound. I ended up solving this by swapping Q2s 100k trimmer for Q3s 50k trimmer. With the transistors biased, it sounds like it should. Nice high-gain preamp.
Edit - regarding my point #2 - SW1 does indeed go to Presence 2/3. However "Presence 3" on the board should actually go to Presence 1.

ReplyDeleteThe Schematic is no longer there on the link, does anyone by chance have another schematic for this layout or saved it anywhere?
ReplyDeleteIs it safe to assume the Dive pot leg 1 supposed to be connected to ground? The transfer layout has it disconnected.
