SoloDallas Storm

Had a couple requests for this one. Very cool design and story behind this circuit. Note, the 120pF cap right below the Boost pot, and the 10uF cap just above the LED are present in the original design, but not connected. Check out Aion's trace blog for more info and schematic. Also, use the 1981 DRV drill template for this one.

  3. You can tag it as verified, David.

I just finished boxing it and putting it through the paces. My Back in Black has never sounded blacker! None more black!!!

It even sounded OK with non-AC/DC songs. XD

I didn't have any BAT42's in my stock, so I subbed in some 1N60p diodes for now. I'll add the BATs to my next order so that I can swap them out. Still... sounds like they're doing the job just fine.

As always, thanks for the awesome layouts!

    1. One other note:
I used a CLM6000 for the led/ldr. Very close to the NSL-32 from what I can find.

Another sub would be a Vactrol VTL5C3. There are a lot of sellers on eBay posting them for cheap, but I don't think they match the specs of the genuine VTL5C3.

    3. I just wanted to be super cool... like my good buddy and mentor, Zzoyd! You keep me motivated to build and learn more about circuits.

I couldn't let you beat me to finishing this one. ;)

  5. i couldnot find VTL5C3,CLM6000,NSL-32 in our country, so i used ldr Gl5528 & red led. Limiter working good. Very transparent boost, I got slight overdrive only with humbuker. Working good before or after another pedals. Going to try this strange beast.
