Essentially a Rangemaster with a switch selecting the input cap (Hi/Lo) and another switch (Ge/Si) selecting between a germanium or silicon transistor. The bias pot helps to fine tune the bias (imagine that lol) differences between germanium and silicon modes. Other transistors can be used other than what's specified. Something in the 100-120 hFE range for the germanium and something around 250 hFE for the silicon. Schematic here.
This is a library of perfboard and single-sided PCB effect layouts for guitar and bass. I'm not an electrical engineer by any stretch of the imagination, just a DIY'er who likes drawing layouts. It is meant for the hobbyist (so commercial use of any of these layout is not allowed without permission) and as a way to give back to the online DIY community.
not working, just siren noise
ReplyDeleteBuilt this a couple days ago and I'd say its verified. Tried a couoke of 2SD30's. One around 50 hFE, and one around 160 hFE. Preferred the 160 hFE. Sounded a little muddy until the boost knob got past 2 o'clock or so.
ReplyDeleteIt is possible to use a Russian MP38A in place of 2SD30?
ReplyDeleteI would think so. I've built several Rangermaster clones with those.
DeleteThank you,I built a Tonebender with this one and sound pretty good. I try.
DeleteVerified.MP38A in place of 2SD30. Very nice sound.

ReplyDeleteBuild, funny pedal... good for experiments
ReplyDeleteMine is popping when chosing transistor, do you have any issues of it?
