DMB Stellar Drive

Here's the 3-knob version of the DMB Pedals Stellar Drive. It's RAT based, but with soft clipping instead of hard, and has pretty wide range of tones on tap. Here's the schematic for reference.

  1. Hi everybody, and greetings from Austria!

finished the pcb Version right now, and it works great!
    thanks for another great layout.

ive seen some pictures with a 4th knob labeled "CLEAN"
could this be a added "blend circuit"??
anyway, i think you can mark this as verified, congratulations!

thanks very much for your great work, i also ordered a new pcb from you and cant hardly wait until it arrives!

    1. Don't know for sure what's used for the clean blend in the 4-knob version, but something like the Split 'n Blend would get you close most likely. Thanks for verifying! You're on a roll!

  3. Doesn't the FET gate require any kind of connection to the 9V? I finished my Stellar Drive and it didn't work, producing the characteristic quiet sound of poor biasing. I started looking for mistakes and found that the FET gate does not have any kind of reference to the positive voltage, so I added a 1,6M resistor there, but it still did not work properly, so I kept on looking. Finally, I found a bad connection around the op-amp and after correcting that my Drive works perfectly. Still I'm wondering if the resistor I added is not necessary...

    1. The resistor you added shouldn't be necessary. The schematic and layout were already verified working, so probably just that bad connection you had.

  5. Can I use any single opamp for this one?

    1. Go with the usual subs for a LM308 in a RAT.

  6. Hi all, I tried to draw up a schematic from the pcb diagrams so I could breadboard to test and experiment but the circuit is not working for me. Could I get someone's more advanced eye on my drawing to see what I have wrong? Thanks in advance for any help! https://www.dropbox.com/s/w0t9b31ri6x56xg/stellar-Drive-diagram.jpg?dl=0
