Here's a nice little solid state amp for headphone use or a small 4Ω speaker. Good candidate for a bench top amp for testing purposes. You can board mount the pot and it will fit in a 1590A just fine.
This is a library of perfboard and single-sided PCB effect layouts for guitar and bass. I'm not an electrical engineer by any stretch of the imagination, just a DIY'er who likes drawing layouts. It is meant for the hobbyist (so commercial use of any of these layout is not allowed without permission) and as a way to give back to the online DIY community.
This is rad. I don’t have any TDA7052A’s. And they are a little obsolete, or I didn’t find them easily from my favorite sources. I did find a number of them on eBay. I was also unable to find a direct replacement. So, it’s to eBay if anyone needs IC’s.

I was wondering just the same but I want to do a amp with a a medium speaker like 8 inches, and put another preamp for switch between clean signal and tweed (od) signal before the amp, what do you think? This would be sound cool or just to quiet? You think I need another layout of amp like 10 watt?

ReplyDeleteYou can use it with 8 ohm load, since it's a typical working condition, according to 7052A datasheet.

Hi! Simple and nice sounding! But it works without power connection to the D of the transistor. Its normall?
ReplyDeleteThat's weird... The JFET is an input buffer, so it would work (just not as well) without it.

ReplyDeleteI used a 8 ohm 2w speaker, and a stereo jack with a switch to use the headphones and cut the speaker.
The sound is very transparent and defined, when using other mini amps like the ruby or the MXR could not notice great difference in the sound of the guitar when using the pot of the tone, with this, it is noticed all the variations of tone, and the selection of the pickups with great detail.
I will abandon the MXR and start using this.

Hey. Built it acc. to layout. Got two things happenening.

2- the ic is heating like a barbeque... is that smth to be expected ?
How would this work with a celestion greenback, 25w speaker?

ReplyDeleteNo. You'll be using a regular mono jack. Positive to the tip, and negative to the ring. You'll use that to connect to a speaker, which should have it's positive lead wired to the tip and negative lead to the sleeve of a similar mono jack.

I did it!! I just had to assemble The + on tip and - out on The second part of the tip! Done!!

ReplyDeleteI built this amplifier, and it works very well, except that the 47k resistor should be changed to 4.7k. It sounds much louder and better after this change.
tested transistors:
BF247a - very clean, small gain.
J112 - much more gain and definition than BF247

DeleteCan I combine it with an amp emulator in the prev? for have equalization and gain control. Like input jack to a in of amp emulator (like super lot, angry charlie or other) out amp emulator to in of amp. Sorry for the bad english.

ReplyDeleteYes, the pads directly above "3 - Volume - 1" are the pads for the pot with middle pad being lug 2. As for 3PDT wiring, this is an amp with the in pad going directly to a jack and with the out +/- pads going to a speaker or output jack to connect to a speaker. You can wire an on/off (SPST) switch that connects/breaks the +9v connection to the board.

ReplyDeleteI build it without buffer and ommit 100K pot replacing with 100K resistor soldering on pin 4 from IC direct to ground. Keep 470n capacitor soldering on pin 2 (input), ommiting this caps make this circuit not work. You can pair with any preamp pedal without oscillation. I suggest to attach small cooler plate on IC because in some case IC's becoming too hot. Nice sounding mini amplifier beside LM386.
