Lovepedal Hi Volt

Today we've got the Lovepedal Hi Volt. A wide variety of tones on tap with this one. It's a cascaded JFET gain stage into an active EQ section, all powered by a 16v charge pump. Laid this out with on board pots and will fit in a 125B with top mounted jacks. Here's the schematic for reference.

  1. Thank you very much for your wonderful layouts!

I've just finished HiVolt, but it didn't work. I found that the problem comes from the power supply part, which is wrong on the FSB schematic. So, you must disconnect 1N4001 diode from the pin 7 of MAX1044 and connect it to pin 8 (as I saw in many others schematic). Because I am lazy, I cut the pin 7 from the IC and I soldered together pins 7 and 8 :)
Now it works, but not as in videos. It hasn't a tight sound. It has a muffled sound. Maybe are other errors in the schematic.

    Best regards!

    1. Thanks for the report. I'll correct the charge pump on the layout.

    2. I have the original schematic that it was redrawn from, perhaps there was an error made when I had it redrawn to share by another member. The one I have is the factory schematic sent to me by Sean so I don't feel it's right to share without redrawing it

    3. i would send the schematic to you however to check against the layout you've made if you'd like so we can get this one verified :)

  2. judging by the schematic posted on FSB, pin 3 of the mids pot should connect to pin 2 of the top TL072. i corrected the charge pump on mine and then used a jumper to connect it and it works, but it doesn't sound quite like the original pedal to me.

Jesse, i'd also like to see the original factory schematic. if you could email it to me at jrkallas@verizon.net i'd really appreciate it

  4. Hello, again!

After I added a wire between pin 3 of the mid pot and pin 2 of top TL072 (as John Kallas suggested above), the effect sounds very well, almost as in the videoclips. Anyway, I will test it these days at higher volumes :)

    Thank you very much all!

  6. Can I use the ICL7660S in the location of the MAX1044? Has this layout been successful?

    1. You can use the 7660 in place of the 1044. And to my knowledge it hasn't been verified yet.
