Got a request for this one. It's a effects loop buffer that's a solid-state version of the Dumbleator effects loop buffer. It's equipped with an internal charge pump that converts a +9v supply to +33v. Very useful for keeping your effects loop free from signal-loss. Since it runs at a much higher voltage than most effects, make sure your components are rated at at least 50v. Also the 10Ω resistor off the +9v pad should be 1/2 watt or higher.
This is a library of perfboard and single-sided PCB effect layouts for guitar and bass. I'm not an electrical engineer by any stretch of the imagination, just a DIY'er who likes drawing layouts. It is meant for the hobbyist (so commercial use of any of these layout is not allowed without permission) and as a way to give back to the online DIY community.
Thanks ! Amazin work ;)
ReplyDeleteAlternative for MAX1044 ? Not realy easy to find :/
7660 would work. You could always build a 33v charge pump with a 555 on a daughter board and plug it in on the right side of the 100Ω resistor.
DeleteI feel kinda bad to put a request here since you're doing that in your freetime and with no commercial interests - and your blog is one of the best sources for one of the best layouts on the whole wwww!... Anyway my kindest request is: Could you do a layout for the CB Manx Loaghtan for an 1590B with onboard pots? A good layout for this is still missing - only vero board. Thank you in advance and have a good day! :)
ReplyDeleteI can give it a shot. Do you have a schematic?
DeleteOf course! Basicly a Big Muff with a James tone controll and a JFET buffer/gain stage after the tonestack: http://musikding.rocks/wbb/index.php/Attachment/368617-Manx-Loaghtan-Schematic-gif/
DeleteI built one using the layout here.

It may be where you got the schematic. I remember the layout having corrected values that weren't updated on the schem.
It sounds great! The EQ is very powerful.
please check out that whole thread. There are some corrections after that schematic was posted. One person said "R7 & R12 should be 100k" among other things.
DeleteHi! I'm aware of that certain thread of course. Differences in values don't matter too much to me since if the basic scheme is correct it's an easy task to sort out the right values in the right positions. ;-)
DeleteI had no idea that this type of thing existed! I have an amp where all my effects would get blown out through the loop. So I just ran everything in front. But this... gonna have to try one just to see.
ReplyDeleteHi!
DeleteDrawing a layout on vero and I think I've found a mistake in yours:
I think the 10uF caps from Max1044 pin 2 are reversed.
anyone managed to verify this yet ?
ReplyDeleteIs this the same as this here? https://tagboardeffects.blogspot.com/2017/01/ceriatone-klein-ulator.html?m=1
