This is a library of perfboard and single-sided PCB effect layouts for guitar and bass. I'm not an electrical engineer by any stretch of the imagination, just a DIY'er who likes drawing layouts. It is meant for the hobbyist (so commercial use of any of these layout is not allowed without permission) and as a way to give back to the online DIY community.

Boss Blues Driver 2

I can't remember how many times I've been asked to do this one. I started laying it out ages ago, but got frustrated or interrupted and never went back to it. But here it is now, better late than never. The layout is for board mounted pots and it will fit in a 125B enclosure. Just couldn't seem to get it narrow enough for a 1590B. Schematic can be found here.

    1. Lo hace. La franja gris indica negativa. (El lado negativo va a la salida)

    1. The Inverting and Non-inverting inputs are flipped on the LM741 compared to the TL072, if you didn't account for that and changed the layout accordingly, that's the reason.
I don't mean to get all lecture-y, but you should check the datasheet, and at least the pinout first.

    2. The pinouts are the same for the LM741 and TL071. Agustín, you might want to go through your build with an audio probe: https://www.diystompboxes.com/pedals/debug.html And double check that you don't have any shorts or missed connections.

  8. Anyone have a good source for the A250K dual gang with 90 degree pins? Tayda only has the straight ones.

    1. You can always use some heavier gauge solid core wire and make your own.

    1. Check out the Transfer Image Library tab at the top of the page. Scaled PDFs of every board on the site are there.

  10. it might seem a good idea to add a 8vDC power daughter board

  11. Hello. I couldn't find any capacitors with intermediate values in the country where I live. For example, 18 nF, 56 nF, 5.6 nF. Will the circuit work if I place the approximate values of these capacitors?

For example, 15 nF or 22 nF instead of 18 nF capacitor, 4.7 nF instead of 5.6 nF, 100 nF instead of 150 nF, or 220 nF.
I need this pedal urgently, and I can't afford it.

Note: I do not speak English. Translation google. Thank you from now :).

    1. You should be fine using the alternatives you mentioned. You can also use capacitors in parallel or series to create values you don't have on hand.

    2. Thanks for the answer. I'll do the verification of the experience as soon as possible. Merry Christmas :) .

  16. Hello,

    Thanks for this project !

I would like to know if I can use 2SK117-GR with the same orientation as J201 on this layout ?
I tried to do a pinout search and I found various results so I am confused...

    Any help would be welcome!

    1. The 117 is DGS, so you'll to just twist the source and gate legs. Just be careful to not short the legs together.

    2. Thanks, I got it working !

      Sounds amazing...

Last questions : What are the differences with the original unit ? Did you just remove the Boss complex switching system, or is there something else ?

Finally, which one of your layouts would suggest to build next ? Is there any one that you are particularily satisfied with how it sounds ?

  17. Sorry, I can't access the schematics, the link is dead.

  18. I dont think that there is 2M pulldown resistor at the output, if you gut down original BD-2 schematic theres non bcs of flip flop and in PedalPCB Cobalt Drive there is 10K.
