This is a library of perfboard and single-sided PCB effect layouts for guitar and bass. I'm not an electrical engineer by any stretch of the imagination, just a DIY'er who likes drawing layouts. It is meant for the hobbyist (so commercial use of any of these layout is not allowed without permission) and as a way to give back to the online DIY community.

fOXX Tone Machine

The fOXX Tone Machine is a classic fuzz box and a very versatile octave effect as well. Pretty standard controls, and the toggle switch controls the octave effect. I've laid this out for onboard pots and octave switch, and added polarity protection and power filtering. 2N3904s or 2N2222s can also be used in place of the original 2N3565. Hope you're stocked up on 10µ caps!

      Yep. The 4001 is for polarity protection and a 4007 is a good sub.

      the background will be white and not transparent that way, how do you design these, maybe i can redesign it myself so i have the original file

    Great job, as soon as I rode it it worked first but after a while it got as if the fuzz potentiometer was around 30% even in 100% what to do? Help meee

    Hi there. I'm a bit confused about the ground holes. From looking at your general layout notes, I thought there should be two holes for ground. Why are there four??

      4148s work in a Green Ringer octave so they might also work in this circuit as well. Worth trying anyway.

    Hi
    Trying to put this circuit together, using 2n3904s.
    Using an etched Pcb, no shorts around. When connect the jacks grounds to the circuit I don’t get any sound, no noise or hums either.
    Using polyester film Capacitors ( box type). Any idea what could be wrong?

    2nd time building this. First time around output was just ongoing crackling. Pots did have an effect, but no actual signal came through. 2nd attempt pedal worked for about a minute and now it's just the same crackling. What could cause this? Is it a grounding problem? Tried probing and the crackle seems to be audible already on input.
