This is a library of perfboard and single-sided PCB effect layouts for guitar and bass. I'm not an electrical engineer by any stretch of the imagination, just a DIY'er who likes drawing layouts. It is meant for the hobbyist (so commercial use of any of these layout is not allowed without permission) and as a way to give back to the online DIY community.

Mid-Fi Electronics Random Number Generator

Happy Fuzz Friday, all! Here's a fun noise maker that should go together pretty easily. Schematic for reference.

  1. Thanks!
Can we get a higher res pic tho?

  2. I built this with no substitutions and get a bit of randomness, but nowhere near that exhibited in the video. Moreover there's some extraordinary hissing noise, which may be a build problem. I'll give it a second look tomorrow, but thought I'd share my preliminary findings in case anyone else had this issue too.

    1. I'm hoping to get to it in a couple weeks.
      Did you socket the transistors?
HFE might make a difference. I'm also not sure if using a 2n2222 vs the PN2222 might impact the circuit.

    2. I didn't socket them but I can certainly pull them out and add sockets. I may do just that too. I used MPS2222 by the way which I believe should be the same as pn2222 but I can double check the datasheets.

  3. I am always very grateful for your work.

I would like to request the layout of marshall gv-2.
    Best regards,

  4. I’m making a lot of pedals using your layout.
    Thank you very much.

I still can’t master eagle cad.
    Excuse me,can I request a layout?
It’s two circuits from Jack orman(AMZ).

    •Shaka 5 overdrive
    •Multi fuzz(mini muff)

I will create it with point wiring,so please create a layout if possible.
With respect from Japan,Please take care of yourself.

  7. Mark this one verified. I used the suggested Q2-Q4, and an S9018 [hFE 97] for Q1. Sounds just like the demo.

I did modify the layout slightly by reversing the potentiometer so the board sits on its bottom for stability.

  8. Yup. Worked as the video with no substitutions.

  9. Confirmed working from the etch.
    I used:
    Q1: 2N4401
    Q2: 2N222A
    Q3: 2N4401
    Q4: 2N4401

Sounds just like the sample - like an 80's arcade!

  10. HI there, is possibile to add some potentiometers to control some parameters for more felxibility?

  11. I put in two 2n3616 in place of the 3904s and the hiss is gone. It sounds even better with a boost in front of it. I love pedals like this. The weirder the better.

  12. I’m a little confused by the out… it doesn’t seem to connect with any of the components on the board… am I missing something?
