This is a library of perfboard and single-sided PCB effect layouts for guitar and bass. I'm not an electrical engineer by any stretch of the imagination, just a DIY'er who likes drawing layouts. It is meant for the hobbyist (so commercial use of any of these layout is not allowed without permission) and as a way to give back to the online DIY community.

Mini BassDrive

This is an adaption of the Fulltone Bassdrive without the boost footswitch, allowing for a smaller enclosure. I got the idea from a comment by Simão on the Fulldrive 2 post, and I though it could prove useful for my fellow bassists. Like the Fulldrive/Bassdrive, it's modded Tube Screamer with clipping and voicing options with the 2 toggle switches. Based on this schematic with the boost footswitch and 2nd gain pot removed.

  2. I think the are some mistake on the layout: Q4 gate and drain must be conected to 1n34a anode and the gain POT is backwards

    1. Marvin, you're right about Q4. The position of the gain pot is irrelevant, as long as the resistance is between lug 1 and 2.

  3. Been out lately and now I see this! Gotta give it a go. Thank you sir.

  4. it's verified with the exception of the Comp/FM/Vintage(FCV) switch. the Comp and FM modes work perfectly, but the vintage mode does nothing (it sounds exactly like the FM mode). as far as the comment about the gain/drive pot being wired backwards, i tried it both ways and it works exactly the same, so the layout is fine in that respect.

  5. FIXED IT! i ended up reversing the lugs on the drive pot and connecting to 10n cap to drive 2.
here's a modified layout with the corrections: http://johnkvintageguitars.homestead.com/Effects/Fuzz-ODs/BassDrive/MiniBass-D/01-Mini_Bass_Drive_Layout-FINAL.png

and here's the PCB for it: http://johnkvintageguitars.homestead.com/Effects/Fuzz-ODs/BassDrive/MiniBass-D/Mini_Bass_drive_PCB.jpg

  7. one more layout that requires less modification to storyboardist's one: http://johnkvintageguitars.homestead.com/Effects/Fuzz-ODs/BassDrive/MiniBass-D/001-Mini_BassDrive_Layout.png

    1. I think this has got some issues. The 22k resistors that should set the minimum setting of the gain pot is only going to CFV lug 4, and the 10n and 47k components are coming off pin 2 of the IC instead of after the 22k resistor. If anyone is using John's layout stick with the first one.
