The Whisker Biscuit is a hybrid of the Bazz Fuss and the Big Muff Pi. A single Bazz Fuss stage replaces the two clipping stages of the BMP. Smooth, super-long sustain, and good clean-up with the guitar volume knob make this circuit an interesting alternative to the standard BMP.
I've included the optional 47pF caps as well as the tone control mod. Omit the 47pF caps if you want more treble, and if you prefer a more standard tone stack, replace the 22k resistors with jumpers and use a B100k pot.
Could You put a 1M pot before the input and have it be at sort of a gain control?

ReplyDeleteI used what it calls for on the bottom of the layout. 2N5088 for Q1 and Q3. MPSA13 for Q2.

I experimented with and without the 22k resistors and a B50k and B100k pot for the tone control. I preferred keeping it just how the layout is.
I tried a B250K pot before the input but that didn't do much. C1M pot worked much better and was worth it to me for some gain control.

Worked great for me. Tone control is backwards though, unless you think of it as a Rat-style "filter" control. I liked it fine as shown - not as intense as a Muff, but rolls off better with the guitar volume. Didn't feel like it needed a gain control.
