This is a library of perfboard and single-sided PCB effect layouts for guitar and bass. I'm not an electrical engineer by any stretch of the imagination, just a DIY'er who likes drawing layouts. It is meant for the hobbyist (so commercial use of any of these layout is not allowed without permission) and as a way to give back to the online DIY community.

Keeler Kick

For Fuzz Friday we have another Keeler design. Nothing too complicated about it (and in my experience with fuzz simpler is better)–basically an Electra running into a Big Muff tone stack, into some germanium clipping, into a Fuzz Face. Schematic from FSB.

  2. How about the Pull and Shove? Would be nice to see the complete set of Keeler products.

  3. Additionally, I find that the BC337 is a nice replacement for the BC182L (sine the 182L is somewhat hard to find). Pay attention to the pinout for the 337 (CBE) and an additional plus, the 337 is more readily available, cheaper and generally has a higher HFe (great for fuzz).

  4. Quick question - looking at the schem for ref - off the 100R along the top, at the top of the 10k and 33k, that can't be a ground arrow is it? I thought well maybe its VB? Didn't think it would be an addition 9v point as that net is 9v anyways.

    1. It's just showing that line as the voltage rail. Not completely necessary, but doesn't hurt either.

  6. I built it but I got some problems.. I got some interferences, Tone isn't working the right way. And there's something very weird, it works with russian mp38a but not with bc183l or 2sc1815 (same pinout). How can it be possible?

  8. I built this one on perf a while back. I did some minor re-routing to accommodate 2N3904 for Q2 and Q3. The texture control goes from gated velcro to long smooth sustain, and the fuzz goes from crunchy overdrive to farting analog robot. The tone control is subtle, but it works. I played it for about 30 minutes and the sound kept coming out while the smoke stayed in. I'd say mark it verified.
