The Triton, diverges from the base concept by adding a second Delay Time potentiometer and a unique (in the DIY world) modulation effect. The Delay pots are selectable via footswitch (latching), and when switching from one time setting to the other, the delay time change happens slowly, just as if you were manually turning the delay time pot on a standard delay pedal. This causes a gradual pitch bend that slowly resolves to unison if a note or chord is struck and held when toggling between Delay pots. To control the speed of the pitch bend/resolve, there is a pot labelled “Slow”. Making the transition speed slower also makes overall delay time longer.
This is version 3.1 of the Triton, and includes all controls externally (the original PCB by Pickdropper had the Tone pot as a trimmer). Here's the schematic for reference, and the demo below is of an older version, but you get the idea.
the regen control can get to self ocilation or infinite repeats?

DeleteOr multimeter? I can only think that you would get just 1 repeat if the delay is not feeding back into itself at all. If im correct in assuming that the regen knob is just a volume pot which is routed back into the delay. test the resistance between soem stuff to see if it works, look at the schematic

This pedal looks super cool. I would love to have a seperate feedback control for each of the the time delays. That way I would be able to switch between a short slapback delay and an echo type effect. Anyone out there have an idea?
ReplyDeleteIf you look at the schematic, and use a 3pdt for the time switch, you see theres a pole left without use so, theres where you can have separate feedback control, such as the time controls.

ReplyDeletehi i'm getting signal passing though but no effect i checked my voltage regulator and getting a reading of 05.01v on the output i'm assuming that's correct i've got some pt2399 from china thought they might be fake so swapped out for an SMD from bitsbox on a adaptor still no joy any ideas on what to do iv'e used multiple chips and not had any joy

ReplyDeleteIve been fighting this for a bit. Essentially I have only clean signal. Ive checked and triple checked for bridges, orientations. Reseated ics and swapped them. Ive got 5 volts after the regulator. Checked pots. No success. The only thing that happens is that when i first power it on I get an oscillating grumble that descends in pitch for about 4 seconds then it disappears. Anyone else struggle with this thing or have any insight?
ReplyDeleteYour PT2399 could be locked up. If you've got it in a socket try a different one.
DeleteIve fixed the issue. It was the socket itself. Seems to muddy the clean alot. How can I remedy that?
