This is a library of perfboard and single-sided PCB effect layouts for guitar and bass. I'm not an electrical engineer by any stretch of the imagination, just a DIY'er who likes drawing layouts. It is meant for the hobbyist (so commercial use of any of these layout is not allowed without permission) and as a way to give back to the online DIY community.

Fenrir Distortion

Came across this schematic over on the Tagboard Forum and thought it'd be a good addition here. Heavy distortion tones on tap with some clipping options and a full 3-band EQ. Switch is a SPDT on/on.

  3. Built this tonight, sounds great, similar to the body rot 2 but not as funny. Slight loss of volume when switching to one of the clipping modes, but easily recoverable with the volume on the pedal. 2 issues with mine, and could be maybe something I've done incorrectly (haven't had a chance to debug it yet), my gain control is backwards as well as the mids. They increase if I turn them the opposite way i should be, and the mids goes muddy very quickly as you turn it up. Other than those issues it works as it should!

    1. I’ve looked over the schematic and the layout. It appears the layout is correct to the schematic. Not that the person who made the schematic didn’t make a mistake.

Check your pots. Make sure you’re reading them right. If you’re looking down at the frontside of the pot and the lugs are at the bottom they will be numbered 1-3 from left to right.

  7. i did not expect my pedal to show up here.
didn't even expect it to show up anywhere, but it's nice to see people appreciating my work :)
the gain potlugs need to be reversed indeed but the rest should work as is.
I've changed the 6.8n cap at the input to a 10n to get a little more headroom.
the mid cap (330n) could also be changed if you want more control over it but for me this was it.
the volume loss when changing the clip bugs me too but i couldn't find a solution without redesigning the whole thing.
i wanted an insane dirtpedal with massive controls yet simple enough for a beginner to start with.
and btw, this is my first attempt to make up a schematic! :p

    1. Hey Seba,

Thanks for the clarification! I realized after I posted the comment that it was mids, not treble, which makes sense as to why i thought it was backwards. It sounds great though, I just off boarded the volume pot. Killer pedal though, I love it! The volume drop isn't too much, just bump the volume a touch after switching and it's cured. Thanks for your design!
