This is a library of perfboard and single-sided PCB effect layouts for guitar and bass. I'm not an electrical engineer by any stretch of the imagination, just a DIY'er who likes drawing layouts. It is meant for the hobbyist (so commercial use of any of these layout is not allowed without permission) and as a way to give back to the online DIY community.

Throbak Overdrive Boost
Pretty much a Colorsound Overdriver clone. Laid this out for a 125B (because of the dual footswitches) with board mounted pots. The boost footswitch bypasses the PreGain pot and only uses one side of a DPDT. Use the other side for LED wiring. If the off board wiring is confusing, check out the thread with the schematic here on FSB. The diagram is for a vero layout but the wiring is the same.

You have posted lots of interesting pedals in August.
ReplyDeleteThis truly a goldmine for DIY pedal builders.
Speaking of Throbak, how about doing a layout for the Throbak Strange Master?
Another interesting RangeMaster clone is the 65' Colour Boost.
Thanks David!
ReplyDeleteI was waiting for it.
Is much to ask to mod the board for mounted pots, like Box of Rock, etc?
isnt there soppoesed to be a 2.2M between input and ground?
ReplyDeleteFrom what I read on the FSB thread, the pull down isn't necessary when the input signal hits a pot.
Deleteso, if I want to build it without the pre-gain pot I should put the resistor right?
DeleteYes
DeleteAnd the 10k trimmers are to set the voltage to what?
ReplyDeleteIt's in the schematic linked above. Set the one coming off Q1 to 5k. Set the one going to Q2 to 2k or 5v. Set the one going to Q3 to 1.5K or 6.5v.
DeleteHey man, you can tag this! Made one for myself and works perfectly!
ReplyDeleteHola, para el 2N404, cual puedo utilizar para reemplazo, gracias, saludos.
ReplyDeletecan i build this with always on pre gain?
ReplyDeleteJust omit the pre gain pot and jumper the pads that would go to lugs 2 and 3.
Deletethank you
DeleteI don't see the IN pad on the board... Please help me
ReplyDeleteRead the notes under the perf side...
DeleteSo, is the input pad on pin 2 Pregain Switch?
DeleteCan you check the picture on the link is correct, please? https://imgur.com/a/DF2Vrta
