This is a library of perfboard and single-sided PCB effect layouts for guitar and bass. I'm not an electrical engineer by any stretch of the imagination, just a DIY'er who likes drawing layouts. It is meant for the hobbyist (so commercial use of any of these layout is not allowed without permission) and as a way to give back to the online DIY community.

Kustom K200B Harmonic Clipper

Found this over on the Tone Report Weekly and thought I'd make a PCB/perf layout for Fuzz Friday. It's based on the fuzz unit in old Kustom K200B amps and utilized by John Fogerty of CCR. The first 2 transistor stages are from the original units, with a Escobedo Duente boost at the output as a gain recovery stage. A lot of the credit for adapting the original circuit into pedal form goes to a group of cool dudes on DIYSB (pinkjimiphoton, digi2t, and a few other I'm probably forgetting) with the Suzi-Q.

  1. actually, tone report completely ripped off my circuit down to the part values and it has nothing to do with the circuit that inspired what me and dino came up with. but if ya look at tone report's circuit, you'll see it matches mine... and not the kustom harmonic clipper on which it was based supposedly.
kinda scummy. thanks for giving the real peeps who developed this circuit some props.
    peace

  2. any comments for the comment on the soundcloud track at the beginning? Does lug 3 of the gain pot have to be connected to the footswitch?

    2. hmm mine came out nothing like the sample. Not as dirty or fuzzy. Any ideas?

    3. the same with me. the tone is not very pleasant, more like a "farty" sounding overdrive than fuzz. and the volume pot only works when maxed.
