Here's a Menatone design that emulates a Marshall JCM800. Like many Menatone circuits, the King of the Britains has had several iterations over the years. For this layout I went with the 6-knob version (and is essentially the same as the Electrictabs JCM800 emulator). I've laid it out specifically for a 125B enclosure with all the pots board mounted. Here's the schematic for reference. I would have liked to included trimmers for biasing the J201s, but there just wasn't enough room. So it's probably a good idea to socket the resistors feeding the drains and reference the schematic for voltages.
can you do a layout for the menatone none more black me and jok3rx traced
all the info is on FSB and theres already a few vero layouts but i would much rather build on etched boards and its already verified thanks to the amazing people on the forum
its truly original in the fact it uses 6 j202s in the 18v version i own that we traced and 5 in the 9v
Built it about a year ago. Used SMD J201 FETS with adaptors. No mods done. Used the published drain resistor values And everything worked. Tried trimppots for drain resistors and could not get any better sound than the published fixed resistors gave, so I put them back in. Very pleased with the pedal and nailing some great early Judas Priest tones...Really. Good J201 FETs are essential.
It's not. For some reason I flipped the ground and voltage pads on the pcb from the perf... Maybe I was trying to see how much people were paying attention? *shrug* lol
JFET drains? please? ....
ReplyDeleteRead the description above. Voltages are listed in the linked schematic.
Deletey gracias por todo =)
ReplyDeleteNice one, buddy! You're on a roll!
ReplyDeleteThanks bud!

Already working on it ;)
Deletehi,...
ReplyDeletepin on +9v between left picture and right picture are different,,,
CMIIW
Sorry about that. The labels got mixed up. It's fixed now.
DeleteAny major difference between Menatone's design and this:

Other than the trimmers, not really.
DeleteThank you. BTW you've doing a really nice work. Cheers from Brazil.
DeleteThanks!

Awesome! Thanks for verifying
Delete100uF positioning seems wrong on the perf layout

DeleteI'm a total newbie and normally I use the perf layout to identify components.
ReplyDeleteBut in any case, you're right, LOL!!
