Here's a pretty versatile and unique overdrive from Smallsound/Bigsound. The designer, Brian, was kind enough to share his schematic over on FSB, so a big thanks to him! I've laid this out for board mounted pots and added trimmers to help bias Q1 and Q3. I posted the layout on FSB and JohnK has already verified it, so thanks John!
Hello, i have the circuit ready for the test , though i cant find the diode that calls for.Is the 5158 the correct diode? Is there a replacement for it? Thanks in advance
Hi!Just wanted to point out a few mistakes in the layout.1:The 10n next to 220n i think is 1n.2:The bottom 1k is shown in the last row.3:the reverse underside of the base on the 5089 is wrong somewhere, and 4: After the 10ohm resistor again on the underside. Thanks!!!
Hi storyboardist! Any chance this layout will get updated? It looks like there are some differences regarding where components are placed on the front/back of the perfboard layout. Thanks again for all of these amazing layouts!

ReplyDeleteYou can use a 4001, 5817, or even a 4148 there. It's just the polarity protection diode.
DeleteI only have the 3362 trimpots with the "triangular" pinout. Does orientation of the trimpot matter? Or no, since they are linear?
ReplyDeleteShouldn't matter all that much.

ReplyDeleteOn 4 its after the diode sorry..
DeleteHey, did you manage to get the circuit working after making these changes?
DeleteYes! Its working fine!

ReplyDeleteWorking a few bugs out of this circuit. Should Bias 2 and 3 be connected? And also as stated above the 10nf should be a 1nf.
