Here's a cool silicon Buzzaround variant I found browsing DIYSB. Any low hFE transistors should work ok. 2N2222A, 2N2369, MPSA42, etc. Should fit nicely in a 1590B.

Verified. The gain and volume are not very high, but the sound is a Buzzaround. I made two assemblies, one using mpsa42 and the other using 2N2222A. I thought the mpsa42 assembly sounded a little better.
