Os Mutantes Fuzz

Got a request for this one and thought it'd be a good Fuzz Friday layout. It's got a fair amount of treble and grit on tap and should fit pretty easily in a 1590a. Schematic here.

  1. Verified. Just finished it up. Interested to see what other folks find with this one - mine is just slightly under unity gain when activated, haven't had time yet to debug.

  2. Sub the 22k for a 25k trimmer and adjust to taste. Fixed the unity gain...and then some...

  3. No problem...You could use a 20k or anything close for that matter. 25k is just what i had laying around.

  4. build it, breadboarding with 2n2222 metal can, hfe176 on Q1 and Q2 152, bias q2 collector with 10k trimmer set around 8k [2.1v] to get sweet spot, input cap used 10nf for fatty granule gain on my set, ready to box up this little beast, thanks for the layout~

    1. Volume 2 = the middle lug of the volume pot. That's the point of the circuit output.

  8. Verified. I changed some values; 5k by 5k1, 22k by 1k5 to have the original signal volume in the middle of the potentiometer, and I used 2N4401, both with hFE of 289. A great sound in a small 1590a box!
