Happy Fuzz Friday, folks! Stumbled across this one recently and looked cool. It's basically 2 SHOs in series pushing a Green Ringer. Schematic for reference. Should fit nicely in a 1590B. I've also got a fabricated version in the store.
I made it on perf board with 2n7000s ( flipped) and IT WORKS! mine seems more sputtery and gated with not quite as much of the phase thing the guy in the video talks about but its pretty close. I socketed the 4148s and will of course play around with others. Now Im wondering what the internal dip switches do?
This is writen on the silver machine description on jptr site ( Inside the Silvermachine, you'll find filter switches that reduce high-frequency output in three steps, giving you even more control over your tone. ). Since this is a " simple" design, how can i add those filter switches to this layout? Any ideas?
I don't know for sure what those filter switches do, but my guess would be they change either the input cap (C1 on the schematic) or the 47n cap going into the Green Ringer (C4) to a larger value.

ReplyDeleteI saw a gutshot and it looks like the dipswitches add in parallel caps to create a low pass filter and take off some of the harsh high end.
DeleteWhere can i put those parallel caps in the circuit...and which values may be worth to try? Thanks
DeleteIs the "9.1v" component a 1N5817 or a 1N4001?
ReplyDeleteNeither. It's 9.1v zener diode and there are several options out there. I personally have used 1N5239s in this circuit.
