Face-Bender

Got a request for this one for Fuzz Friday. The Tone Bender Mk.II Professional is essentially a Fuzz Face with an extra gain stage up front. The Fuzz-Bender basically puts the extra gain stage of the Mk. II on a switch, allowing you to more or less switch between a Tone Bender and a Fuzz Face. Layout is based on this schematic.

  1. Built one here. Low gain and volume when the extra gain stage is not engaged, and can't notice any change whilst turning the fuzz knob (sounds like it's always full on fuzz). used AC127s (Q1 around 70 and Q2 around 95). help please! thank you!

  2. I just finished building one. I used MP35 transistors. There is a little difference in volume between the "fuzz" stage and the Bender and you have to dose the gain well with the 10k trimmer but the adjustment with the 1k pot works pretty well. My biggest problem is the background noise that really a little too high. In my creation I used two footswitches for the effect activation and another one for the bender/face/ selection with two leds for indication of the fuzz type.

  4. I think we can classify it as verified. :-)

  5. Hi all, so I built the Face Bender, the Bender side seems alright, the Face side is not really working, I can only ear sounds when my guitar volume pot is on full (10), I used AC127 but I guess that's not the problem. Any clues on why this is happening? Thanks. Great blog but I think I might try vero next time, seems to be a faster way to put everything together but maybe take more space?
