Here's a really big one to kick off the week (might be the biggest dirt circuit I've ever laid out). The original Pork Loins have the Clean Tone, Presence, and Drive Mix pots internally, with 3 internal pots internally, and I've gone with the same configuration here. Schematic can be found here on FSB.
Mouser has them, too. A bit pricey. I read over on Madbean that someone built in with 2n2222 but preferred the original for lower gain settings. Several Way Huge pedals utilize them, notably the fat sandwich, which I've only see one large vero layout for. :)
verified! I used 2n2222, good! But what sound we have with a lot of details? LIke clean channel met "zendrive" overdrive. I can't get enough gain there! I decided to do mod. LF 353 - between 6 & 7 lugs put resistor 18 k, from 6 lug - resistor 5k1 to 1/2 voltage. And resistor with drive pot change from 33k to 6k8 - 10k! Now we have clean channel + more gain!
I had little definition in the overdrive channel, tested a lot. Did also ZZOYD's mod's and that worked fine but found it still to bassy for guitar. Finally went back to the original design and only changed c34 to 220pf (as claimed in the new version?) Used 2n3904's for 2n2484 and TL072 for LF353. (exact parts now ordered) Good overdrive sound with it's own caracter....Thanks!
shit man, this one looks intimidating to do on perf. Wich means I'll probably build it this way, hah!
ReplyDeleteHow many details, for the drive))
ReplyDeleteanyone know a good source for the 2n2484 trannie?
ReplyDeleteTons of them on Ebay from US sellers.

ReplyDeleteNewark also has them - better price but they have a $25 min shipping charge... :(
ReplyDeleteI wonder if a 2N3904 would be ok... similar hFe range (40)... much less that the 2n2222 (100 hFe)
