MXR Custom Badass '78 Distortion

I've wanted to draw this one up for a while. It's a fantastic clone/variation of the  Boss DS-1 Distortion. I had one for a while and loved it, but ended up selling it to fund some other stuff. But I'm definitely adding this one to the pile. You can sub a TL072 or JRC4558 in place of the TLC2262 if you need to.

  1. It's verified. But I had to replace the 47K resistor with a 100K resistor to avoid unwanted distortion. The signal was too high at the TL072's input. Sorry for my bad english...

    1. You try replacing that pot? Could be faulty or maybe you used the wrong taper.

  3. I did , changes the B100K , tried 250K, but same result, changed the IC, looked the broken traces, shorts, component orientations, checked solder joings, values but no result, maybe my etching was bad or I missed something

    1. Those are non-polarized film caps. I get them from Tayda: https://www.taydaelectronics.com/capacitors/polyester-film-box-type-capacitors/1uf-100v-5-polyester-film-box-type-capacitor.html

  7. Hello!

I made the effect from your site, exactly it is mxr custom badass 78.

But I don't understand where you solder the input from the guitar, where the footswitch and where the output. I'm a noob and can't figure it out.
Can you explain me where to solder?

    With best regards.
