Brown Sound in a Box 2

Somehow I've not laid out this DIY classic, so here's the BSIAB2. It's a great distortion pedal designed by Ed Guidry and is probably a must for any of you EVH fans.

  2. Don't work. The signal goes through the effect, but the volume and gain are very very low. Bad and low sound ,it's as if part of the signal goes to ground. Ive checked that there aren't bridges, and bad welds. I can't find fault. I have seen that the 1 uf cap next to 220nf in original schematics is non electrolitic, i replace but has not improved. Thanks i will try again ; )

    2. Hola Julio. Saludos!

  9. Work it! Funciona!

  11. Excellent, I built a unit using the printed layout, I just needed to use a 220pF capacitor (250) and I used the J201 in all "Q", with electrolytics in 1uF.
wonderful project, rich in harmonics, maybe even make the contour mod, but I think it won't even be necessary.

  12. Built it. Had a problem with volume drop. it because of my bad volume pot, when i replace the pot, the problem was gone.

  13. Two quick tips:
    1) I found the BSIAB II too dark in its stock form. I removed the two .0022uF caps at the end, and put a .001uF cap on a toggle switch, in place of the next-to-last .0022uF cap.
This gives me a 'Normal' and 'Bright' mode (the latter of which I use more often).
    2) I've had good results using a 560pF cap in place of the 470pF. This gives a little/slight boost in the mids.

Definitely in my top 3 dirt pedals of all time.
