Lovepedal COT50

Here's one of Lovepedal's many Electra Distortion variants. It's a pretty good booster and is the boost section on the Amp Eleven.

  1. Hey man
    Congrats on the awesome site!!!

I'm trying to get this one to work:
Do I connect both outs to the out jack? I only get output when I do that, but its tiny and does not distort.

I modified it slightly by moving D1 and D2 away and connecting them to the original location via wire. This was so that in the future I can maybe swap diodes, or use a switch to select between diodes.
Would this cause any problems you think?

Its soft sounding - getting weird loud popping noise if I brush against the board.

    1. Hey I corrected myself!

Connect to the Blue OUT. Not red

  2. This is a good pedal overall. But there are some noise in this pedal.

  3. Again with the red or rather, pink out... no connection or what? Thanks.

  4. My pedal got lower end volume. How can i have a little more volume I used diode 1n270

  5. I know 1n270 is good to smooth out the harshness, but they might reduce gain a bit. Mine has 1n270 but very loud. Check your connections and maybe try a 2n5089 transistor, higher hfe than most 5088's.

    1. As long as your components are rated for higher voltage it should be fine.

  7. HI!! Does the booster stage go after the amp eleven or before?

    1. I'm not entirely sure, but based on the control layout of the original, I would assume the boost is first.

  8. @Effects Layouts, I made this specifically to be boxed in with the od 11 you also made. For my an amp 11. I just tested it today and even with the pot dialed in at zero there is still signal coming out and louder than the clean signal. Don't get me wrong, the circuit works fine and I love how it sounds. It's just that I was expecting it to work like an lpb-1 boost I made or any one knob boost where zero on the pot turns volume off. Is this normal?

    1. The pot for this circuit controls the bias/gain of the circuit. It's not a traditional volume control. If you want to add on, just connect lug 3 of a 100k pot to the output of the circuit, wire lug 1 to ground, and lug 2 becomes the circuit output.

    2. It's fine, I like it this way. hehe Now that I have boxed it with the OD11 I notice that the circuit is quite microphonic. If I brush my hands on the board (component side) it makes noise. Most especially if I touch the 1M resistor after Input (Pulldown?). I can only hear the noise on high volume on OD 11 and when I turn this on. Is it possible that the resistor is mirophonic?

  10. What are direct replacement for BAT46? Can I use BAT41? I have lots of them

  11. very simple pedal with incredible sound, I used 1n60p and it was very good, thanks for the layout!!!
