Diamanté Compressor

Stumbled across this one over on the old La Revolution Deux blog. It's a simplified version of the Diamond Compressor, removing the EQ and the blinking LED circuitry. Makes for a much smaller footprint and will fit nicely in either a 1590B or 125B. Here's the schematic for reference.

  1. It’s verified. Great sounding compressor. Don’t need the OP275, but you do need the LM358 as the voltage doesn’t work right with the TL072/4558 type opamps.

  2. Just did this today. It has a big volume drop compared to one from the tagboard site I did before. I think it may be the 100k resistor you have going to volume 3. The schematic link shows that to be 10k, as does the other site. I’ll replace it and check this week.

  3. Replaced and can confirm the volume drop issue is fixed. Volume around 12 is unity with. 10k in place of that 100k resistor.

  5. Just finished this as well and was going to post about the 100K at the output as well. It should be 10K (looking at the schematic). I don’t think it has much to do with the volume, but more about how much low end is exiting the circuit. I think as you change it to 10K it filters out some of the low end and let’s the high end shine, making it brighter and seem like a volume increase.
100k would start cutting the highs at 723 Hz and the 10k would be 7.23 kHz.

  6. just finished this and it sounds great. I made a few changes to modify it for bass and used a daughterboard with a switchable 9v/18v charge pump to give it more headroom.
