Earthquaker Devices Chrysalis

Another oldie but goodie from EQD. The Chrysalis (now discontinued) is essentially a Speaker Cranker (with a pre-gain control instead of its normal gain control) into a Rat-style tone control, followed by a LPB-1 for gain recovery. Schematic can be found on FSB.

  3. I made it! It's verified! I used mpsa42 instead of the mpsa18 and some diodes I found around.
Sounds good! It's a very light overdrive.
I would like to mod it for bassguitar. What should i do to get that?

    1. Thanks for verifying! For bass typically you just increase the value of the caps in the audio path. You'll have to play with the value of the cap for the tone control (currently 4.7nF), but the 3, 100nF and the 220nF caps are the ones you'll want to increase. You could start with 3, 470nF and a 1uF and experiment from there.

  6. Hey, first of all thank you. This website, is amazing!
Second, I hope someone will help. Looking at this perf I have a doubt about the hole at B-17 what should I hook there? The level pot stays between E-14 and 18, and at B-18 I have +9v, so what is B-17 for?
    Thank you in advance!
