Got a request for this one. Another AC30/Rangemaster emulator to try and get Brian May's tone. Here's the schematic for reference. It calls for "BC245/256" JFETs for Q3-4, but I think that's a typo and should have the BF prefix. Should work with other JFETs as well. So socket and experiment with the usuals—J201, 2N5457, etc.
Brilliant. Thank you.
ReplyDeleteYou are correct, David... BF245-A transistors are indicated with most of the layouts I've seen. I have Guero's layout, taken from this thread:

Guero used an OC140 for Q1 and a J201 for Q4, for anybody who is interested.
This said - the most and very resembled sound of Brian May-

any chance with the deaci amp??
ReplyDeleteCan be marked as verified - I used two J201 transistors for JFETs and a Soviet MP35 NPN Germanium transistor
ReplyDeleteI have always wanted to do this one. Amazing little pedal. I only had 1 germanium tranny left and glad I did. I used a 1n100 ,or bat41 for the diode.
ReplyDeleteCould you omit some parts to get just an ac30 sim without the booster in front, also does it have a speaker sim in it?
ReplyDeletebuilt it too. Q1 should has hfe 80-100,when lower-not enough gain for other stages, i tried different MP,left mp38a hfe85. Q2-hfe 130-200, Q3Q4 used КП303а, J 201, Кп303и, all they working good, so i left кп303и. Wery nice working when CUT to min! Thanks, David!
