May I?

Got a request for this one. Another AC30/Rangemaster emulator to try and get Brian May's tone. Here's the schematic for reference. It calls for "BC245/256" JFETs for Q3-4, but I think that's a typo and should have the BF prefix. Should work with other JFETs as well. So socket and experiment with the usuals—J201, 2N5457, etc.

  1. You are correct, David... BF245-A transistors are indicated with most of the layouts I've seen. I have Guero's layout, taken from this thread:

Guero used an OC140 for Q1 and a J201 for Q4, for anybody who is interested.

  4. Can be marked as verified - I used two J201 transistors for JFETs and a Soviet MP35 NPN Germanium transistor

  5. I have always wanted to do this one. Amazing little pedal. I only had 1 germanium tranny left and glad I did. I used a 1n100 ,or bat41 for the diode.

  6. Could you omit some parts to get just an ac30 sim without the booster in front, also does it have a speaker sim in it?

  7. built it too. Q1 should has hfe 80-100,when lower-not enough gain for other stages, i tried different MP,left mp38a hfe85. Q2-hfe 130-200, Q3Q4 used КП303а, J 201, Кп303и, all they working good, so i left кп303и. Wery nice working when CUT to min! Thanks, David!
