Got a request for this one. It's the active midrange boost (of up to 25dB at around 500Hz) found in Fender's Eric Clapton signature Stratocaster. Ended up not board mounting the pots for a smaller board for those building this into a guitar. Here's the schematic for reference.
great!!! i,m looking for this about a couple of month! ther is an existlng layout on tagboard fx, but i like to build it on a pcb. one question: is this one designed for standalone operation? i mean : do i need the tbx tonecontrol to get it really working? however, i will build this as soon as possible, many thanks for your great work!! can you send me your paypal acount, so that i can send you a little gift for your excelent work? ( my e-mail adress is bluesanderl@gmx.at )
build it, and it works. but the mid pot is reversed ( had to exchange lug1 and 3) and transistor 1-3 ( i used 2n5089 because i had them in stock) are also reversed ( maby only the picture, didn,t compare it with the schematic or my trannys have a diffferent pinout) i rotated them 180 degrees and now: here we go!!!
nice layout once again and for all those who cant etch or something I have found a guy that already has a pcb version of this boost with the tbx pot as well you can check it out here
Hi everybody! I got a Used tbx tone control dual pot, and i would like to add it to the mid boost circuit. I have no really idea where and how to Place it. Should it be located just before the circuit? The board himself works perfect! If anybody has an idea, please let me know! If it.s finished it should work like the "claptone" fx Pedal. ( mabey i put an ep booster Art the end?) Greetings from Austria Bluesanderl
Just a Little Note! If it is Used as an extern fx pedal, it,s necessary to use a 50k log pot for the Volume!!! After that it Works Perfect! The tbx Control is simple Placed in front of the Circuit!
great!!!

DeleteThank you! What the MID control does? Is the Mid frequency is variable? or it works like a gain for the ~500hz?
ReplyDeleteIt boosts up to 25dB at around 500Hz
DeleteThank you, but what the volume does then? :)
DeleteIt controls overall volume.
Deleteah ok.. so it may work as a clean boost right? :)
DeleteYes
Deletebuild it, and it works.

nice tiny layout, works great
nice layout once again

The volume pot should be an A50k. Everything else is perfect! I've just built one for Buddy Guy.
