Rockett Animal

Another fun overdrive from Rockett, this time going for a Plexi sound. Think of it as the first half of a buffer-less Tube Screamer with an AMZ Stupidly Wonderful Tone Control 2. Here's the schematic for reference. Should be an easy fit in a 1590B.

    1. In this circuit half of the op amp is not used. In original units, the unused pins are left unterminated, which can cause unwanted noise. There are a couple different ways to terminate the unused opamp pins. The vero version just uses a different method.

  3. Has anyone check the circuit?

  4. Just finished building this one. My build works, and sounds fantastic. All of the controls work properly, except the volume control. It has no effect at all - its always full volume. The output is isolated to lug2 of the pot. Lug 2 of the pot isn't connected to any of the other lugs on the pot. The pot is grounded out to lug1, and lug3 is taking the input. Im thinking bad it may be a bad pot, but does anyone else have any ideas before I change it out? Aside from that, I'd say this one is verified.

    4. Circuit is good nice sounding.
Only problem i have is when the snarl switch on "more gain" there is a high pitch noise. Treble at noon gain at 3 o clock. Becomes more audible when you crank both knobs. Any recommendation? tIA

  9. Hi,
many people have this problem with this noise on few diy Rockett Animal.
For resolve this problem, I add a resistor 1M between the terminal of the Gain potentiometer (resistance 4.7k) and the 0V.
    Now it's works correctly.
    I don't found a difference sound.

  10. What about the 22pF capacitor between 1 and 2 leg of an op amp? Gone?

  11. It seems 22pF capacitor between 1 and 2 leg of an op amp is missing (as seen on schematic) and pot for bass is reverse. Am I right?

  12. Hi and merry christmas, I‘ve just finished the animal and it sounds great :-) Only thing that‘s not working is the snarl switch. As soon as I connect the cables, the signal gets completely lost. I have traced the signal at Snarl 2 and get a very clean, low volume signal from there ... is that correct? I think it should be the output signal here and maybe that‘s the reason why the signal dies when connected to the last gain stage?
